CA NA TONETA

I’m back from the best Easter holiday in Mallorca! 6 days of sun, waking up with no alarm and lots of good food – all while I heard it was snowing back in Copenhagen.

One of the days we had lunch at this new gem of a place, Ca Na Toneta in Caimari. It’s about an hours drive from where we stay, but the island is so pretty I really don’t mind. And when you can drive top down in the sun – it’s really just a pleasure.

Ca Na Toneta has been named one of the best restaurants in the world, and it’s not difficult to see why.
Everything on the menu is made with local produce from the island, and it’s pretty simple: there’s only the 6 course set menu, changing daily and following the seasons. Simple but good!

On our menu was a delicious fish soup, a typical Mallorcan flatbread with cuttlefish and hake fish with spinach cream – to name a few. It was really good!

The garden patio is only open during the summer season, but (unaware of that) we asked to have the coffee and dessert served outside. The very helpful staff apologized, but said we could enjoy it on the patio next door, where they have a little boutique and bar. And that was even better! The afternoon sun, the strawberry/chocolate dessert, the pretty flowers – it was just perfect!

Speaking of the next door place, I’d recommend coming early to have a drink and a seat outside in that pretty patio before going for dinner. And yes, you want to buy everything from the store! It’s all made in Mallorca, ceramics, linens and other kitchenware.

If you come here during the summer season, make sure to ask for a table outside – the restaurant patio is decorated by Mallorcan artist Albert Pinya.
