KAMALAYA

It’s almost been a year since I packed my suitcase for Thailand. So why the wait for this post? The reason for the trip was a travel feature on Kamalaya, a luxury health resort and spa in Koh Samui. The feature is finally out in this months ELLE Denmark, so I can finally share my pics from this wonderful trip on the blog.

This place is truly paradise! But Kamalaya is not your usual luxury resort. What makes it special is their wellness programs, ranging from Healthy Lifestyle (focusing on weight loss and sports), Detox (cleansing), Stress & Burnout and Yoga. You can choose one, or get a program customized for you – whatever you choose, they all come with different treatments in the Wellness Sanctuary.

I was on the Stress and Burnout programme for three nights, which included six different treatments – sounds like a dream right? From an oil massage at night, with the sound of the sea as my soundtrack, to Asian hand and foot massages, a traditional Thai massage, an Indian head massage (coconut oil all over my scalp, without doubt good for my hair, maybe not so good for my look …) and a stomach massage – yes really! Wow, I could get used to that!

When I wasn’t busy in the spa, I enjoyed one of the pools (there’s a leisure pool, a lap pool and several small plunge pools), a hammock on the beach, the fitness centre or a Thai cooking lesson in the kitchen.

And speaking of the kitchen …  The restaurant focuses on healthy eating, to support the wellness programs. If you’re on a detox program, there’s a whole detox menu – and to be honest, it all looked so good, I couldn’t not try some of it. Fresh spring rolls, delicious salads, fruity sorbets for dessert and a drink menu filled with healthy juices, iced teas and sparkling drinks, that will make you forget about alcohol in a second.

Even though three nights was a very quick visit, I really got to enjoy the amazing facilities and understand the idea of Kamalaya. I truly hope I can come back someday.

Fantastiske billeder! Jeg var selv i Thailand i Januar og havde den skønneste ferie – og jeg får bestemt ikke mindre lyst til at drage dertil igen efter at have set dit indlæg. Men næste drømme destination må være Bali.

    Hej Ida,
Tak for din kommentar. Ja der er virkelig skønt i Thailand – jeg drømmer mig også tilbage. Men Bali står også virkelig højt på min rejseønskeliste lige nu!
