NYFW DIARY

Though I only stayed three days in New York for fashion week, I had a blast. I love that city so much, every time I come there the love just gets bigger. Here’s a little bit of what happened during those three days.

We flew from LA late on Sunday evening and landed in NY early Monday morning. The flight is only 4,5 hours, so you do the math on how much sleep I got that night. When we checked in at The Ludlow I quickly forgot about it though – more about that hotel soon!

The first show of the day was uptown at the Guggenheim Museum, but first … coffee – and brunch!

This favourite spot has opened a cafe just next to Guggenheim, so it was perfect to stop there first. They have the best quinoa porridge and Australian coffee!

Maryam Nassir Zadeh was the first show, it’s a New York brand that started out as a multibrand store but for the past few years has been doing clothing and shoes. This was my favourite look!

Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the Calvin Klein show, because it was before I arrived to New York, so instead I stopped by the showroom to look at the collection up close. I was not allowed to take any photos, so here’s a photo of one of many coffees that day, here with a Valentine’s sleeve from Starbucks. The collection (not the sleeve) is Raf Simon’s first for Calvin Klein, and it was really cool!

proenza

Next up: Proenza Schouler. One of my all time favourites. I loved the patent leather, cut outs, oversized silhuettes and subtle logo details on the bag straps! Bonus info: the front row included Alexa Chung, Caroline de Maigret and model Hanne Gaby among others.

Frame Denim hosted a really cool presentation with rock’n’roll music, lots of flashing lights and obviously denim. But the collection also included romantic ruffled shirt and leather overalls – super cool!

Quick late lunch at Cafe Henrie – more about that here!

Outfit of day two in Anne Vest fur, Toteme jeans, Ahlem sunnies, J.W. Anderson bag and Filippa K boots. It was pretty cold, but at least the sun was shining!

shop

I got a chance to stop by a few stores I wanted to visit. Away, who makes cool and light weight luggages. They also sell other things for your trip such as guide books and travel sized beauty. I also checked out Outdoor Voices, a brand specializing in active and leisure wear, not just for a hardcore workout, but also for walking in the park or going to the playground.

I love their cute signs in front of the stores.

coucou

The good thing about bringing your boyfriend along on fashion weeks? That you can enjoy a Valentine’s lunch at this charming place. Also more about that soon.

mansur

Mansur Gavriel has had a pop-up shop for a while now, but during fashion week it re-opened with the new SS17 collection. I was there for the opening night, where they served champagne and Italian cakes (imported for the occasion). The store is now open for the public. I love their colorful shoes and bags!

Met up with my friend Celina in the evening, she lives in New York and works for Ralph Lauren. I rarely get to see her, so I was so happy we could find the time for a dinner.

kors

The last day was the day for the Michael Kors Collection show. It was really cool! This is my favourite look, but there were many. I had a closer look at the collection in the showroom afterwards, and there were a lot of perfect knits, cool shoes and great coats.
