SIMPLE RAW

Yesterday I had the pleasure of trying out the new Simple Raw restaurant at Gråbrødre Torv that opened this weekend. Maybe you’re already familiar with their other location in Vesterbro? The new one is bigger, and let’s face it, much easier for me to get to, because it’s closer to where I live. Who doesn’t love a local juice bar?

Gråbrødre Torv might have a dusty reputation, but Simple Raw is definitely a refreshment between the old cafés and restaurants. The space has been totally renovated, and is now a bright, clean space with wooden details. Very cool, relaxed and cozy!

The menu is raw and vegetarian, and there are so many delicious options! I had the brunch (served all day) that comes with ricepaper rolls, cashew yoghurt with berries, raw ryebread with avocado, parsley spread, marinated pineapple, three juice shots and a raw chocolate fudge cake to end with. People even order it for dinner, and I see why – it’s fresh, delicious and very tasty. My friend had the burger. Raw burger? Yes. The patty is made of quinoa, spinach and mung beans, and I’m sure it’s much better for your hangover than a meaty one.

What I like about Simple Raw is that the atmosphere is relaxed, but the food is not. It’s raw food taken seriously, and it’s beautifully presented. I’ve been missing a healthy spot in Copenhagen, that’s not just for take away, and this is it!

Upstairs they’re working on the private dining room, available to book for special events, which is also where they can test out new recipes.

Gråbrødre Torv 9, 1154 Copenhagen. Open Monday-Thursday 10am-10pm, Friday & Saturday 10am-11pm and Sunday 10am-9pm.
