MAMA SHELTER LOS ANGELES

This is actually not my first time staying at a Mama Shelter hotel.

I’m familiar with their Paris branch, which was the first in line back in 2008. Now they’re spread across Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Istanbul and yes, Los Angeles. All with quirky and cool style, drawings in the ceilings, free in room movies and (probably best of all) affordable rates in common. Mama Shelter is young and hip, attracting a cool crowd.

Now to the LA location. It’s situated a few blocks off Hollywood Boulevard, so it’s great for spotting those Hollywood Walk of Fame stars and it’s the perfect distance to go for a hike in Runyon Canyon (go from North Fuller Avenue). Another bonus: If you’re lucky, you can get a parking spot right on the street – it’s free at night. Though LA is a city all about cars, the fee for parking overnight at your hotel can easily go up to 40 USD per night!

The rooms are sleek and minimalistic with cute details (just look at those lamps). But what I loved most was the bathroom! White tiles, marble and a dash of pink. Can I please do a copy/paste at home? Simple and girly, without being too much (at least if you ask me … Don’t know if you ask my boyfriend …). Before I start rambling too much about the bathroom, let me just tell you that the room had a (tiny but still) view of the Hollywood Sign, the restaurant had a cool vibe at night and a delicious menu (I went for a simple kale salad and avocado hummus) – and for your morning coffee, enjoy it from LA-hotspot Intelligentsia, which they serve right at the hotel.

I’d love to come back to Mama!
