You could say The London Edition and I have a special relationship. At least I feel that way.
It opened in September last year, just around the same time I was going back and forth between London and Copenhagen when my boyfriend was living there. So of course we had to stop by. Turns out, The Edition is the perfect place to have a drink (a punch, that is), have a meal (at the amazing restaurant, Berners Tavern), just hang out (the lobby is to die for), be seen (it’s become one of the fashion week hotspots), party (at the secret underground club, what else?) and of course sleep (did you forget this was a hotel?).
Now to the cold facts: The London Edition is the first in line of Marriott’s new hotels, with many more in Miami, New York and Paris to come. In partnership with Marriott is Ian Schrager, the man behind legendary Studio 54. Unlike Marriott, The Edition is smaller, and has a more modern and unique interior, focusing on a sublime experience ‘all under one roof’. And that’s exactly what you get. The rooms are personal and welcoming, making you feel instantly at home. Such a shame London has so much to offer, otherwise I’d probably have spent all my checked in hours inside the room, ordering room service.
If you’re not looking to have a sleepover, my favourite thing about The Edition is The Punch Room bar. With three bars to choose from (there’s also one in the lobby and the restaurant), this one is hidden behind a heavy door in the back. It looks like a men’s club with wooden walls and leather chairs, but women are more than welcome. Their specialty? Punch. All served in antique punch bowls and can be ordered for however many people your party is. My favourite is the house punch with jasmine flowers. Added bonus: they serve the best bar snacks in town; nuts that are so good and spicy.
After drinks comes dinner, and that you shall do at the Berners Tavern restaurant. The dining room is lavish and glamorous, the menu delicious and luxurious, yet served in a casual manner, with a choice of dishes to be shared. It’s run by Michelin starred chef Jason Atherton, who’s also in charge of my favourite London restaurant.
No matter your purpose, there’s no excuse not to visit The London Edition.

5 IDEAS FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE | NEVER NOT GOING
[…] I have so many great memories from The London Edition. I stayed there for New Year’s Eve a few years back and it was just as magical as you’d expect. We had dinner at this favourite of mine, but the hotel restaurant Berner’s Tavern is definitely also a good choice. Whatever you do, make sure you have a drink at the in house Punch Room bar. And if you want to party for longer than 2am (where most London bars close, also on the last day of the year) the hidden underground club in the hotel is worth a visit. Speaking of experience!
