A must on my beauty to-do when in New York, is to get a manicure and pedicure.

There are hundreds of places to get it done, but one place that really stands out from the crowd is Ten Over Ten. Unlike your usual nail salon, Ten Over Ten is more like a super chic apartment, where you can relax, read a nice selection of magazines and of course, get your nails done. While you wait, there’s even a rooftop for you to chill on – how cool is that?

Besides a great collection of Chanel, Essie and Nars polishes, Ten Over Ten also has their own range. All in pretty colours, and all 5-free (that’s free of the five chemicals dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, toluene, formaldehyde resin and camphor). There’s been a big focus on New York nail salons treating staff poorly, exposing them to chemicals all day and paying them minimum wage. At Ten Over Ten, you’re in good hands, and can get them done with good conscience.

I went for a classic red ‘Soup Can’ by Nars and Ten Over Ten’s metallic ‘Grand’. A nice touch to the Ten Over Ten polishes is that they’re all named after New York streets.

Ten Over Ten has three locations in New York; Tribeca, Midtown and Soho (the one pictured), with Financial District location opening this fall.
