BUNKER’S

I’m well into my holiday in Mallorca, and I’m enjoying every second of it!

The other night we went to dinner at Bunker’s in Palma’s Santa Catalina neighbourhood.

It’s my favourite area of the city, because it feels more local and untouched than the rest of the tourist crowded Palma, and there are so many bars and restaurants to discover.

I’d heard many good things about Bunker’s, and I can only confirm them!

The place is small, only seating about 20 people, but the kitchen is tiny! It’s the size of a bar and only occupied by two chefs and one dishwasher. So why am I telling you this? Because what they make out of this tiny kitchen is truly impressive.

The menu changes seasonally, but that day they didn’t have any oysters – they simply weren’t good enough to serve. Instead we went for one of the best steak tatares found in Mallorca, and today’s special: fresh saffron carbonara pasta with guanciale and summer truffles. Yes, it was as good as it sounds!

The place is busy, so make sure to book in advance – and if you’re on a date (or just a party of two) ask for the only table outside.
