Yay! That’s the face of someone who just booked a trip to NYC in November. I’ve been there countless times, but New York is always a good idea. This is the first time I’m coming in the fall season, and I’m so excited to walk trough Central Park with the leaves falling.
Here’s what’s also on my to do list …
Get a manicure
It’s a New York tradition, because nail salons are everywhere and prices are much better than in Europe. You’ll find a regular salon on every corner, but look further, and you’ll see that NYC also has a lot of chic nail salons with beautiful decor and often their own line of polishes. My favourite is Ten Over Ten which has several locations, but this time I’ll see if I can try out a new one. Because why not?
Have a burger
Shake Shack is a classic, but that doesn’t make it less good. Yes, it is worth the line! I have yet to try out vegan fast food spot , but this time I have to. Just look at those oven baked sweet potato fries!
Stock up on beauty musthaves
… at Glossier of course. Until the cult brand comes to Europe, I’m stocking up on Boy Brow and other favourites in their Soho showroom.
Book a table at ABC Kitchen
Even after many years and many new restaurants, ABC Kitchen is still an all time favourite. Can’t visit the city without stopping by. Try their brunch or dinner, but remember to book in advance, this place is always packed. Now there’s an extra reason to go: they just opened ABCv, an all vegan spot just next door.
Get your caffeine kick
Holidays in the city means enjoying lots of good coffee, for the morning walk, for brunch, for a shopping break, to stay or to go. Can’t wait to explore new cafés and tell you all about them.
Shop for denim
Lots of people ask me what to buy in NYC. My recommendation? American brands and jeans, better yet American jeans. Last time I brought back a pair of Grlfrnd jeans (and these Marni earrings), and this time I’ll make sure to visit Frame and 3×1 (both have stores in Soho) and check out the ReDone selection at Barney’s.
Go to the movies
Fall weather calls for watching a movie, and they usually premiere sooner in the US than in Europe. And the amount of popcorn in American cinemas … This time I’ll try Metrograph on the Lower East Side, specializing in showing old classics. Not only does the place look very chic, it also has a restaurant, a very curated candy shop and a book store. Sounds like a place to stop by for many reasons.
Find a bar with a view
Take advantage of the breathtaking views of the New York skyline at a bar with a view. Go for one in Brooklyn for maximum effect. I’ll recommend the one at Wythe Hotel, but will explore more. Cheers!
