THE SURF LODGE

The Surf Lodge is a place I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time. Montauk + surf hotel + hammocks on the balcony – what sounds better than that?

And it’s exactly as I imagined! We spent a long weekend in The Hamptons, apparently the first really hot one of the season. We started our Surf Lodge adventure with a dinner there Saturday night, but we were not the only ones. The place was packed, live bands were playing and the margaritas kept coming. Lobster rolls and wine was served on the terrace overlooking the lake, string lights lit up the night and we danced for hours. Pretty much the perfect summer night.

A few days later we checked in, and The Lodge had calmed down again. On weekdays it’s very quiet, which was a nice change. The rooms are simple, one room, one bed, one bathroom and best of all; all rooms has a balcony with a hammock. The style is St. Tropez meets surfer chic – and pretty much perfect for this place.

This place has a lot of things going on. Besides live concerts (my favourite was Marian Hill), this summer they’ve been hosting a pop up shop with Revolve Clothing and they also just opened a small gallery.

We spent the afternoon paddle boarding on the lake and bicycling around Montauk, and watching the sun set while enjoying a glass of cold rosé.

The Surf Lodge serves both lunch and dinner in their restaurant, and if you’re staying at the hotel they’re offering a breakfast box in the morning.

My stay at The Surf Lodge is one of the best memories I have from this trip, and I can’t wait to come back – next time staying a little longer.
